INFORMATION FOR AU-PAIRS LOOKING TO WORK WITH GREAT FAMILIES IN THE UK!

If you would like to become an au-pair in the UK, Jourdains can help you. We do not ask you to pay us anything. However, we will need as much information as you can give us about your experiences with children, your hobbies and any other information about yourself. The information you provide will help to make sure that we find the right family for you. We can help you find a great family in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire or London. In fact we now place au-pairs all over the UK.

So, to apply for an au-pair role with Jourdains, here is what we require from you:

A 'Dear Family' letter
2 written references
Some photographs of yourself (with children if possible)
A current police check
We will also need you to fill out a Jourdains application form

Jourdains can send you some examples of a 'Dear Family' letter and a reference form to give to your referee.

Once you've got all this information together, please email it to: opportunities@jourdains.co.uk

Once we receive this information, we will then start sending you details about families who are looking for an au-pair, so that you can find a family that will suit you.

We will endeavour to make sure that a potential family knows how many hours to expect you to work, and how much pocket money to pay you. The Jourdains team will also make sure that the family is aware that you may need time off to go to a language college.

At present we recommend the following pocket money rates (approximately):

£75-£80 for an au-pair, working 25 hours a week
£90-£120 for an au-pair plus, working 30-40 hours a week

We are always here to talk and help even after you have arrived in the UK. Natasha Jourdain has been an au-pair herself and she has also had au-pairs too, so she is aware of the process and understands how difficult it can be to come to a new country, especially if you don't speak very much English.

There's no need to worry though! Jourdains has built up a database of many au-pairs over the last couple of years, so whether you want to meet some like-minded people, or some other au-pairs from your home country, we can help and advise you on making friends when you come to the UK. We have au-pairs from all over the world, including France, Spain, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, so there is no need to worry about finding new friends!
